As autumn arrived in March, the “New Culture Movement” social survey was in full swing throughout the streets and alleys of Auckland. Dressed in uniform attire and carrying vivid banners, HHP volunteers visited dozens of communities—including Parnell, Takapuna, and Mangere, etc—to introduce people to “The DaZhan Code”, the “ZhanSu Action” and the “New Culture Movement.” They sought to understand people’s genuine thoughts and invited them to sign to support.
From the initial eye-catching “debut” to the “resonance in people’s hearts” throughout the streets and alleys, this social survey yielded abundant results. An environment of human justice is a shared aspiration; the flames of the “New Culture Movement” will surely be unstoppable!
Taking to the Streets: Making an Appearance Is a Victory
Standing for the first time on bustling streets, facing unfamiliar faces and gazes, the volunteers may have felt a bit awkward at first. But as it turned out, simply “making an appearance” spoke volumes. When volunteers stood tall on the streets, and the banner unfurled in the wind, symbolizing the breaking of the old and the establishment of the new, it was a declaration to society: in this noisy era, there are still people who sincerely care about humanity and justice, and who are taking concrete action to eliminate words and deeds that harm others.
In Parnell, a local vendor, after reading the flyer, not only correctly pronounced the Chinese term of “New Culture Movement” but also took the initiative to introduce this to his Chinese neighbors.
In Onehunga, a woman, after carefully reading each principle, not only signed her own name but also sincerely asked to sign on behalf of her family members who were not present. She said, “It’s because I know that if my family were here, they would definitely support this too.” This conviction was the greatest encouragement for the volunteers.
A 70-year-old woman initially hesitated to sign, but after pacing at the end of the street for a long time, she eventually turned back and approached a volunteer, saying, “I’ve made up my mind—I must support you.”
Authentic Encounters: Humanity Knows No Borders, Kindness Needs No Translation
As the survey progressed, the volunteers discovered that beneath the hurried exterior, people’s inner warmth and kindness were deeply moving. In the survey forms handed out by the volunteers, the handwritten names and heartfelt comments represented society’s most genuine response.
During these days, touching moments were everywhere: a couple who didn’t speak English opened a translation app by the roadside and read the flyer’s content paragraph by paragraph; a man working in the park, upon hearing about protecting children and families, unhesitatingly stretched out his rough, calloused hand to sign his name; and even a fruit vendor, as the volunteers were about to leave, silently slipped bright red apples into their hands. One woman carefully wrote “Safety” on the survey form, her eyes speaking volumes of her longing; a homeless man, despite his disheveled appearance, could not hide his yearning for justice—he wrote earnestly on the form: “Honesty, positivity—don’t judge others based on race or culture.”
These ordinary, small interactions coalesced into a warm current. It tells us that regardless of differences in skin color, language, or culture, people’s yearning for a just social environment is entirely the same.
A Shift in the Situation: People Begin to Approach Us
Toward the end of the survey campaign, a delightful change took place. In parks, on streets, and in squares, more and more people began to approach HHP volunteers on their own.
Some ran out of restaurants to ask questions; some turned back at street corners; some crossed the street specifically after seeing our banners; some recommended the cause to their friends after signing; and some even volunteered to help distribute flyers.
At the entrance of a high school, the scene could even be described as “boiling hot.” Hundreds of students from diverse ethnic backgrounds gathered around, eagerly passing materials among themselves. The level of support was astonishingly high, and signatures spread like ripples.
Conclusion: A New Environment and New Order Are Inevitable
Through several weeks of practice, the overwhelming feedback from the public has powerfully demonstrated that the New Culture Movement is not merely a noble aspiration, but a tangible social need.
Human nature is like a sensitive antenna; as long as signals of justice and civility are transmitted, there will surely be a response. Although the road ahead remains long, as long as this banner continues to fly and the volunteers of the “New Culture Movement” keep taking action, a new order of civilization will surely be gradually established through these sincere dialogues.
The banner has been raised, and hearts are uniting. The New Culture Movement continues to strive forward!
